Start with the fault
When a vehicle shows a warning light, cranks poorly, goes flat overnight or acts differently in traffic, the first step is proper testing. Our team looks at fault codes, live data, battery condition and charging output before any parts are changed. That keeps the job tied to the fault that is actually present, not the one that sounds most likely.
Book a diagnosis if you are dealing with hard starting, repeated fuse failures, dim lights, random electrical faults or a tracker or accessory that is draining the battery. We work from Montague Gardens and also attend call-outs across the Western Cape when the vehicle cannot be brought in.
What our diagnostic process checks
Modern vehicles speak through sensors, modules and wiring. A scanner can point to the area, but the fault still needs tracing. We check the system step by step, then decide whether the problem sits in a sensor circuit, an earth point, a relay path or a damaged wire.
- OBD fault code reading and live data checks
- Battery and charging system testing
- Parasitic drain testing for overnight battery loss
- Starter circuit testing and crank fault tracing
- Alternator output and regulation checks
- CAN bus fault checks where module communication is involved
When a workshop visit makes sense
Some faults are easier to prove at the workshop because we have the space to test under load and compare readings properly. If the vehicle starts, drives and can be left with us, workshop testing often gives the clearest result. That matters on faults that only show up after a few minutes, after a heavy electrical load, or when several systems are linked.
Common workshop jobs include wiring repairs, starter repairs, alternator repairs, battery drain repairs, charging system repairs and fuse box repairs. We also handle lighting repairs, earth fault repairs, starter circuit repairs and trailer wiring repairs when the fault runs through the vehicle harness.
Mobile call-outs for fleets and private vehicles
If a vehicle is stranded at a yard, depot, home or work site, a mobile call-out may be the better option. We attend selected areas across Cape Town, Bellville, Milnerton, Somerset West, Paarl, Brackenfell and Durbanville, depending on the fault and access at the site.
Mobile work is useful when a fleet unit cannot be easily moved, or when an owner needs a battery drain check, starter test or wiring inspection where the vehicle sits. Some faults still need a workshop bay, but the call-out often helps identify the problem and plan the next step without delay in the field.
- Fleet yard checks and mobile fault tracing
- Private vehicle call-outs at home or work
- Starter, alternator and charging checks on site
- Battery drain checks where the vehicle is parked
Useful details to send with the booking
Clear details help us line up the right test equipment and the right technician. If you complete our contact form, include the vehicle make and model, the main symptom, whether the fault is constant or intermittent, and whether the vehicle is at the workshop or needs a call-out.
- Vehicle registration or model details
- Warning lights, clicking sounds or no-start symptoms
- Any recent battery replacement, accessory fitment or wiring work
- The suburb or depot where the vehicle is parked
- Whether the issue affects one vehicle or a whole fleet unit
If the job involves tracker fitting or accessory rewiring, add that detail too. A clean brief helps us bring the right parts or test leads.
A normal visit is straightforward
When the vehicle arrives or we reach the site, we begin with the symptom as described, then test the system against real readings. If a wire is broken, an earth is weak, a starter is pulling too much current, or the alternator is not charging correctly, we trace that fault through to the source. If the CAN bus or a module circuit is involved, we treat it carefully because one poor connection can affect several functions.
That same method works for accessories too. Tracker installations, trailer wiring, lighting changes and accessory rewiring all need neat routing, secure earth points and proper fuse protection so the next fault does not start in a loose joint or rubbed cable.
Where the workshop sits in Cape Town
Our base is in Montague Gardens, with support for Cape Town, Milnerton, Bellville, Somerset West, Paarl and nearby commercial areas. Fleet operators often book repeated checks for units that run daily, while private owners usually come in with warning lights, flat batteries or a starter that has begun to struggle.
Whether the problem is a dead battery at the yard, a charging fault on the road or a wiring issue in a work van, the booking starts the same way: tell us what the vehicle is doing and where it is standing. From there, we can set up workshop testing or a mobile visit that fits the fault.
