Fault codes are only the starting point
Modern vehicles speak in fault codes, but the code alone rarely tells the full story. Our workshop reads OBD faults, checks live data and then follows the circuit on the vehicle itself, because a warning lamp can point to a sensor, a wiring break, a poor earth or a charging fault all at once.
That is where proper diagnosis matters. We test battery condition, alternator output, starter draw, parasitic drain and voltage drop across the circuit, then compare the readings to what the vehicle should be doing. On CAN bus systems, a small communication fault can knock out several functions at once, so the diagnosis has to be neat and methodical.
- OBD fault code reading and clearing after repair
- Live data checks for sensors, charging and starting performance
- Battery and charging system testing
- Parasitic drain tracing on vehicles that go flat overnight
- CAN bus fault checks where modules stop talking properly
Work we carry out in the bay
Our team handles the electrical faults that make vehicles unreliable in daily use. That includes starter repairs, alternator repairs, charging system repairs, lighting faults, fuse box issues, earth faults and starter circuit repairs. We also repair trailer wiring and accessory wiring where extra loads have been added badly or where a clean fit was never finished properly.
On many jobs the problem is not the part itself but the circuit feeding it. A loose earth, heat damaged connector or chafed wire can cause intermittent failure that comes and goes with vibration or moisture. Montague Gardens sees a fair share of wet winter driving and coastal air, so corrosion and poor connections do show up more often than many owners expect.
- Starter repairs and starter circuit fault finding
- Alternator repairs and charging output checks
- Lighting repairs for headlights, tail lamps and indicators
- Fuse box repairs and earth fault tracing
- Trailer wiring repairs and accessory rewiring
Fleet vehicles, private cars and busy working vans
We work with fleet operators and private owners who need the vehicle back in regular use. Fleet faults often show up as repeat battery failure, warning lights, no-start complaints or accessories that stop working after an added fitment. Private vehicles tend to arrive with a mix of dash warnings, slow cranking, flat batteries or electrical faults that only appear under load.
Our workshop also fits trackers and accessories for vehicles that need added control or extra practicality. That can include tracker installation, relay-based accessory wiring, dash or load-space add-ons and tidy integration into the existing electrical system. The goal is always the same: a clean circuit, correct protection and a finish that will hold up in daily traffic, rain and long-distance use.
- Tracker fitting for fleet and private vehicles
- Accessory rewiring and electrical integration
- Fault tracing for repeat flat batteries
- Repairs on vehicles with intermittent dashboard warnings
